Where our data comes from

Source

The primary source is the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) facility certification listing, published by the FDA. The FDA publishes updates roughly every two weeks. Our system ingests the current listing twice a month, on the 1st and 15th of every month at 04:00 UTC.

What each import does

• New facilities in the FDA list get a new listing on Breast Imaging Finder.
• Existing facilities whose FDA record has changed (name, address, phone, etc.) have their listing updated. The "verified on" date is bumped to the import date.
• Unchanged facilities have their "verified on" date bumped so the record shows current.
• Facilities dropped from the FDA list are flagged as unverified. After a grace period, dropped facilities are removed from search results and their pages are removed from our sitemap. Their MQSA certification may have lapsed or the facility may have closed; we surface the change so patients don't act on stale information.

What "verified" means

A Verified badge on a facility means the facility appears in the current FDA MQSA certification list as of the date shown. It is not an FDA endorsement or recommendation of the facility. The MQSA program certifies that a facility meets minimum federal quality standards for mammography; it does not rank facilities.

Corrections and updates

Facility representatives can claim a profile to manage their listing directly. Anyone can also send a correction through our feedback form. Corrections are reviewed by a moderator before publication.

No paid rankings

Facility ordering in search results is not influenced by payment. No facility can buy a higher position, a "recommended" tag, or preferential placement on Breast Imaging Finder. All listings — whether claimed by the facility or not — are ranked by the same relevance and distance signals.
